Hatter's Cottage is an 18th
century detached stone cottage in a secluded location near the centre of the
southern Lake District. It is situated 150 metres from public roads, on a
small farm near a hilltop between Coniston and Windermere lakes. The
picturesque village of
Hawkshead, 1 mile away,
has a small supermarket, a post office and several pubs serving meals.
One can walk or cycle in all directions from the cottage door on footpaths,
quiet lanes and forest tracks. Mountain walking, boating, pony trekking and
rock climbing are available nearby. The central location makes the cottage a
good base for touring the Lake District by car.
Hatter's Cottage is beside a small stream, surrounded by
gardens, fields, orchard and woodland, with
mountain views. It has been fully renovated and is heated throughout.
